Many of us are guilty of saying “this will be the best year yet!” in January, and then not actually making any concrete plans to make precious lasting memories. Time moves so fast and it’s important to make the most of every day. So ask yourself – what have you done to make 2017 memorable?
The scary thing is the summer is almost over and we’re well past half way into 2017. If you’ve been really busy or for any other reason haven’t really ticked anything off your bucket list so far, then why not start now? 2017 isn’t over yet and there’s still plenty of time to do some amazing things with friends or family before it’s over. Here are a few recommendations to inspire you…
Notting Hill Carnival
Europe’s biggest street party is held annually in London, so if you’ve never been before then 2017 is the year! There are two full days of impressive costumes, live music and tasty street food to enjoy and it’s completely free to join in the Caribbean celebrations. Everyone has to experience the carnival at least once!
Never really liked camping? Why not try out the new holiday craze of VIP camping, aka glamping. Many beautiful sites are popping up across the nation, with accommodation ranging from yurts to tipis. Get back in touch with nature without sacrificing your modern luxuries!
Experience the Oktoberfest Beer Festival
It’s the world’s largest beer festival and is steeped in history – if you want to visit Munich then it should be during Oktoberfest. There’s parades, a programme of folk music and dance, fair grounds and beer tents galore. If you want to soak up Bavarian culture and love tasting traditional beers then this should definitely be on your bucket list.
Host a Bonfire Night Party
Sometimes you make the best memories at home. Why not make the effort this year to buy your own fireworks and if you have a big enough garden, start a bonfire on 5th November. It’s up to you whether you invite the whole street or want to spend some quality time with your own family.
Travel to Lapland
If you want to make this one a Christmas to remember, then nothing will beat spending it in Lapland with the real Santa Claus. However, if you don’t want to travel that far then you could always enjoy snowy mountain scenery right here in the UK – in the Cairngorms, east Highlands. It’s a true winter wonderland and even has a herd of reindeer and sledge dog pack which takes you through the forest. If it couldn’t get more magical, there’s also a chance of spotting the Northern lights.
Never forget that tomorrow isn’t promised, so make the most of today. See and experience as much as you can!
