Everyone has a list of experiences, achievements and places they want to visit in their lifetime. While your bucket list might include far flung destinations, there is just as much stunning scenery to be viewed in the UK as well as plenty of quintessentially British experiences you can take part in to create beautiful memories.

Visit Stonehenge at summer solstice

As one of the wonders of the world Stonehenge is a mysterious and impressive sight at any time of the year. But you can make it extra special by visiting the ancient monument at Summer Solstice and following tradition from pagan times, when Midsummer Day was considered to have power. Thousands flock to watch the sun rise over the giant stones every year and celebrate.

Afternoon tea at Claridge’s

What could be more quintessentially British than enjoying a traditional afternoon tea in London. There are so many places where you can enjoy this tradition but Claridge’s offers a truly extravagant venue with lots of history. You’ll be treated to delicate sandwiches, delicious pastries flavours with fruits, nuts and chocolate, and of course scones with plenty of clotted cream and a pot of tea.

Gaze at the stars in Northumberland

Stars and space can be awe inspiring, especially when visiting an observatory, letting you explore and view things you would never normally have the opportunity to. Northumberland is home to the International Dark Sky Park, Europe’s largest area of protected night sky, making it perfect for star-gazing, you can even see the Milky Way with the naked eye – something you’ll surely remember.

Explore the Scottish Highlands

You don’t have to travel abroad to find diverse and dazzling scenes that look they comes straight out of a fairy tale, there’s plenty of these views in Scotland. With ancient castles and ruins dotting the charming landscape there’s much fun and exploring to be had in the Scottish Highlands. You could even travel round the west coast by train, going over the iconic and beautiful Glenfinnan viaduct.

Spend the day at Wimbledon

Spending a day court side watching tennis and enjoying the traditions associated with the event make for a picture perfect day out in the UK. Enjoy watching the sport with a glass of cold Pimms while eating strawberries and cream – what says the British summer has arrived more than that?
